An Idea Charged Up at Zuccotti Park

What is that doohickey in Bryant Park that looks like a solar-powered lectern? It is Tommy Mitchell’s solar-powered cellphone charger. He invented it after learning that protesters at Zuccotti Park were using a hot-dog vendor’s polluting generator to charge their phones. “I was like, ‘Well, that’s awful,’ ” he tells the Green blog.
