In Weiner’s District, Supporters Still Are Easy to Find

Representative Anthony D. Weiner, who is embroiled in a scandal over sexually explicit exchanges with women, announced on Monday that he would leave his political fate to the voters in his district, saying that, “My constituents have to make a determination.”

Judging by conversations in his district on Tuesday — specifically along Austin Street, a commercial thoroughfare in Forest Hills, Queens — voters said they would be willing to vote for Mr. Weiner again.

Local residents and store owners said that Mr. Weiner had been tenacious in serving his constituents. Almost to a person, they said that his sexual communications were personal missteps that should be weighted separately from, and not affect, his professional career.
