Would the man who led New York from 1995 through 2006 be a good choice to run the country?

Remember this guy? Considering the array of uproars that his successors in the governor’s mansion generated, it might take a moment.

Five years after George E. Pataki completed his third term as the governor of New York, he is once again considering running for president. Mr. Pataki, 66, considered a presidential bid in the last election but decided against it. On Saturday, he is scheduled to attend a Republican picnic in Iowa, at which he may announce that he intends to seek the party’s nomination for the 2012 race.
