Updtead 6:40 p.m. | One man was shot dead on a crowded city bus in Jamaica, Queens, on Friday afternoon and another was killed in an apartment by a man who, when he was arrested, told the police he “had a beef to settle” with his victims, the police said.
A third man was wounded in the shooting on the bus and was in stable condition.
The apartment shooting happened around 3:40 p.m. at 163-11 Foch Boulevard in the Baisley Park public housing complex, the police said. The victim was shot in the neck, then fell or jumped out a second-floor window.
The shooter dropped his identification near the scene, allowing the police to broadcast his description.
Just before 4 p.m., shots rang out on a Q111 bus heading west on Archer Avenue, about two miles north of the first scene. One man fell dead; a wounded man was taken to Jamaica Hospital.
The police said that they had arrested the shooter about a block and a half away from where the bus shooting occurred and found a 9-millimeter Ruger pistol on him. Nine-millimeter casings were found near the scene of the earlier shooting, the police said.
The shooter’s and victims’ names were not immediately released.
