Walk around Times Square, and it can sometimes seem oppressively dirty, crowded, loud, saturated in exhaust fumes. But walk around listening to the Bee Gees’ “More Than a Woman” on your headphones, and it’s a whole different story.
In “Hey You! What Song Are You Listening To?” — a short video created by Tyler Cullen and posted on YouTube — New Yorkers are asked what they are listening to, and we suddenly experience the city through their ears. It’s a much more appealing place.
In that spirit, we’d like to know: What songs would make the following unappealing, if unavoidable, New York experiences exhilarating?
1. Stuck on a crowded subway car in sweaty-armpit season, when word comes in of a “sick passenger.”
2. Waiting in what had appeared to be the shortest line at the Atlantic Terminal Target store.
3. Sitting in the car, counting the minutes until alternate-side parking ends.
