It happens. Sometimes life is just plain hard. Whether you’ve been diagnosed with clinical depression or are going through a rough period, the blues are an authentic and terrifying time in your life. Though it’s hard to feel motivated during a depression, taking steps to pull yourself out of your hole can help you feel better and get back to normal.

Take a Puff

The jury is out on whether or not marijuana is a depressant, stimulant or hallucinogen, but they do seem to agree on one thing: there is potential for medical marijuana to help uplift you from depression or anxiety. Medicine is not a one size fits all cure; however, so use with caution.

Exercise

Even if you hate doing it, get off the couch and find a form of exercise you enjoy. Go for a run, take up yoga or sign up for a fitness class. The practice is good for the whole body: The heart, the digestive system and yes, even depression.

Spend Time with Loved Ones

Being around the people who love you best and care for you is instant medicine. Positive influences of family and friends do wonders on the psyche and remind you that it is right in the world. This does not exclude furry friends that you love!

Being proactive when you feel depressed helps you cope. Take care of yourself and know how to deal when a hard time comes in your life.
