If working with the elderly is something that you are passionate about, a career at an assisted living facility or nursing home might be your calling. Any reputable facility will have nursing agency insurance, so do your research before applying. There are a number of jobs that these establishments offer, so pick what suits you best.

Caregiver

These professionals help elderly people with their day-to-day tasks, from waking up in the morning to assisting them in the shower. They work all three shifts, so their daily tasks can vary.

Nurse

Nurses require special licenses, so their tasks go a different route from daily help. Nurses administer medications and take vitals, and they also help in case there’s a medical emergency. They also work all three shifts, though their tasks throughout the day stay much the same at night.

Administration

Somebody needs to be sure that the place runs smoothly, so administrators are the face of the facility, the ones who run the show behind the scenes. They contact families, do PR work and take care of finances. Usually, they work a normal 9:00 – 5:00 workday, but their hours can vary based on emergencies at the facility.
Working with senior citizens has its own rewards. Whichever career path you choose, make the last years of your residents’ lives the happiest they can be.
